When we first moved out here, playgroup was our saving grace and through it, we got to know the area, parks, and people in the ward pretty quickly. So, my first small love I am grateful for is playgroup and the people who go through to organize it! Since Max was born, we have been reluctant to go in the yucky weather and time wise it was hard to fit playgroup in. But now, we're back in the groove of it....and boy were we lucky that our first outing was to a sheep farm! Lizzie was really excited until she got there and thought the sheep were awfully loud. Fortunately, she really enjoyed petting the cat!
The farmer was great about explaining how his farm worked and showing us all the different things he did with their wool and passed around several examples and it was funny to see the wool he died using Kool-Aid! Gotta love it! Lizzie loved the rainbow colored wool!
After a while, he led us to the sheep. Lizzie stared for a while but decided to brave getting close to the baby sheep and even threw feed out for them!
He even had other animals on the farm. He told us that the llamas scare away the wolves! Lizzie wasn't too sure about the llamas and decided to keep her distance.
The farmer also had a pretty big chicken coop (and plenty of poop to go along with it), and we got to see where the chickens laid some eggs and even got to see a cock fight! The kids were way entertained!
And after a good hour and a half, I was ready to go home and scrape ourselves clean and let farmer get back to his work.....It was cute as we left, I told Lizzie to say good-bye to Old MacDonald...and the funny thing was, she did! Too cute!
Then, a few days later, my next thing I loved was playing outside with the kids in nicer weather. It was a windy day and we decided to bust out the kite and take turns flying it. After a few tries, Kate and the neighbor girls thought it would be more fun to play in the back of Jared's truck and let Cole and Jared have a go. I love playing outside with the kids! We'll just have to keep practicing with the kite!
And last but not least of the small things....my husband and children. They may be little right now, but I love them and they are mine. It was a great Mother's day when my children spent time in school and at home, making and trying to hide my presents from me that they made and then coming in Sunday morning and surprising me with their cute little crafts and waffles with strawberries and cream for breakfast. Church was great and Lizzie went to sunbeams for the first time without too much complaint and stayed the whole time. And as her teacher said, did great and even went to the bathroom on her own......YEAH! Love small accomplishments! Cole was great and helped Jared in the kitchen prepare dinner while the girls and I got to play games after church. Dinner was delicious and the afternoon somewhat peaceful and an enjoyable mother's day as I got to talk with my mom and sisters on skype. I love the small technologies that keep me close with my family.
And this Mother's day, I was especially grateful for the little things in life that make it so precious....
My boys
My girls
and my husband for my beautiful children and for being my best friend.
