Kate's birthday party this year was based on the Barbie and the Mermaid Tale 2. So, it was our mission to create an "under the sea" party to celebrate her turning 6. The night before we set the stage....Jared of course, had fun blowing up the balloons (aka sucking helium and making funny voices), getting the bubble machine ready, and playing in our sparkly sea entrance. Always a kid at heart! As the girls came in, the entered through the sparkly drape and bubbles and we had "Under the sea" playing in the background. Can you just imagine it?
She invited a few girls over and we kicked off the afternoon by making
necklaces just like Barbie's on the movie with a shell in the middle.
The girls loved picking out their patterns and it was neat to see the girls how they designed their own. Then it was on to the first game...Mermaid race to Mermaid rock. Their necklaces were placed on Mermaid rock (the chair covered by a blanket and sea shells), and we wrapped their legs together as if they were mermaids. They looked pretty cute for mermaids!

Then we headed back downstairs for more games, fishing for candy, playing in bubbles, and having lots of silly girl fun! The girls ended up staying a little longer than planned but played beautifully and enjoyed an afternoon of girly fun. Happy Birthday my sweet Kate!
