New York has definitely kept us busy here and as a mom of 3, soon to be 4, there's always something to do. Since the hurricane, tropical storm, and earthquake in the past 2 weeks we've managed to try and establish some kind of normal life here. Here's a glimpse of what we have done around the neighborhood in the past few weeks....enrolled Kate in a gymnastics class - which, she loves and is quite a natural at, signed Cole up for a football team, and visited the school to meet our teachers for this year.
Cole's been playing flag football for about 3 weeks now and is loving every minute of it. At first he didn't like the name of his team, the "Steelers" because he didn't like the idea of "stealing." After some convincing and explaining of the VERY different meanings of the words, I think he's coming to accept his team after all. Other than that, he loves playing football and will often sit and watch a game with Jared. Not the whole game, but if BYU is playing, it'll be a good portion of the game. He plays an excellent blocker, line man person - whatever you call it, and is slowly learning the position of safety. He catches on quick and loves to grab the flags. In fact, he and his sisters will often be found in the basement trying to play flag football with ribbons taped to their back, and Lizzie has gotten the phrase, "Set, hike" down really well.
This is a picture of our backyard the morning the hurricane was hitting. The rain started sometime in the night and continued on through the next day quite steadily and this is what our backyard looked like only a few hours in. It got quite deep and wide and we were lucky and only lost power for about 4 hours. However, there were several areas around us that had flooding, we lost one bridge over one of the rivers, and one town was flooded 1/2 way up their main floors and are still cleaning up the mess. We were truly lucky!
A few days before school began, we got to go in and take a tour of the school where Cole and Kate will be going and meet their teachers. They were unsure at first and a little shy but after a few minutes of talking to their teachers and seeing their name in the class, they made themselves right at home.

They thought it was pretty fun to pretend to be the teacher at the group table.
Cole started school last week and this is Kate's first week. They love riding the bus and Cole has come home happy and helpful every day since. They have adjusted well to their teachers and their classes and LOVE to ride the bus. Even Liz puts on her backpack every morning to walk them down to the bus and wave them off. They are just too cute and I am so lucky to have 3, almost 4 beautiful children. Oh, and by the way, if you're still reading, you'll be glad to know we found a doctor and had the ultrasound for the baby and we'll be having a baby BOY! Cole thought he was going to be the only boy in the family and is more than happy to know that he'll have a little brother. Can't wait to meet our baby boy....now, we just have to figure out what we're going to name him.

Peter! Name him Peter! and as for the rest...we are really sad that Cole and Kate are not in school with us, but love to see those pictures and that they are excited for school. Miss you all!
I loved being able to walk Cole and Kate to the bus stop every morning and felt so lucky to be there when you found out baby number 4 is a BOY! I am so excited for you and can't wait to see the new little Parker. I think you should name him Parker :)
