Let the Races Begin!

It's hard to believe that this is our last year of the Pinewood Derby with Cole.  I can't believe that he's already graduating from Cub Scouts and moving on to Boy Scouts.
This year, he invited his friend from school, Adam Smith, to join him in making a car for the races.
Adam was a good sport and he, Cole, and Jared spent a few hours making theirs, Cole a blue one for BYU and Adam, a red one, for the Sun Devils.  They had a good time making them and couldn't wait to see them race!  Cole was pretty proud of his...simple and yet striking!
And here was our car....the den leaders, taking on the boys with a John Deere!
Our stake organizes everything for us, so all we have to do is show up with our cars and race away!  Cole was so anxious to see how his car was going to perform.  It was so fun to see him get excited and watch the races so closely!
Of course, there were the cheerleaders on the sidelines cheering the boys on....
I was the lucky one who got to be the spokesperson and announce all the races, and yes, there were even corny jokes.  I mean, really, what would Pinewood Derby be without corny jokes?
I was so proud of Cole, and even if he didn't come in first place this year, he was excited for the other boys, especially the fact that he got to race with one of his best buddies, Adam.
I am so proud of Cole and how much he has grown these past few years.  I am going to truly miss him in Cub Scouts with me!
