Celebrate good times....

Things have definitely turned colder here in NY and we are trying to enjoy every day that we can outside before the snow fall, hopefully just in time for a white Christmas! To kick off November, we celebrated Jared's 37th birthday. The kids got a kick out of hiding his presents and making him go on a treasure hunt for them and then helping him open them one at a time. They especially loved helping to make Parker Tacos and putting whatever they wanted inside their tacos - primarily meat, cheese, and ranch. Although, Lizzie has surprised us by liking guacamole! The kids each took turns as they blew out candles on the infamous Parker Cherry Cheesecake. We were sad that there weren't a few more cousins around to celebrate this year with!
Lizzie's turn!
Kate's turn
Cole's turn!

Then, it was on to working on our Christmas card pictures. Alas, I waited too long this year, and I refuse to be in a picture this far pregnant, so you'll have to wait till next year to see my beautiful face! As the sun now goes down and is dark by 4 o'clock, I hurried and got the kids ready for an afternoon of pictures and playing in the leaves. They got a kick out of raking them all up and tossing them in the air, and taking turns jumping in the piles. It was a bribe to get them to hold still for the pictures but they loved every minute of it!
Before the leaf throwing began!
Sisters - my cute girls
Cole - doing the cool run and jump
The girls could have stayed all day in that pile but we had to pull them it because it got too cold and too dark!
Unfortunately, the photographer didn't make Thanksgiving this year but we still found time to celebrate. It was great to have Jared home all day, instead of working at a Christmas tree lot, although he went through withdrawls and had actually driven around the day before looking for tree lots to work at. We spent the morning cooking and then headed over to some friends and spent the day "shooting the turkey," playing Rock Band - which we discovered that Cole can play the drums better than Jared, and eating lots of good food. The pumpkin didn't turn out quite right this time, but this was just practice for Christmas! All in all, it was a nice relaxing day with friends and our children, despite the fact that we missed our annual traditions of family, the beach and Disneyland, we are very grateful for the memories we do get to make and realized how grateful we are for our families and friends we've made, no matter where we go. We'll just have to pick up our other habits in two years!
